  • Healthy Schools Award

    Mon 23 Jul 2018 Mrs Cox-Wall

We are very pleased to announce we have been awarded the ABM Healthy Schools Award (as part of the Welsh Network of Healthy Schools Scheme) for Emotional and Mental Health.

We are very proud of our support for wellbeing and mental health for both pupils and staff and where needed for our families via our Family Engagement Officer and other providers.

The PRU in its old format (prior to 2014) had earned some of the Healthy Schools awards but this is our first as the Bridge and has been an important part of our journey.

We were congratulated on the ethos of the Bridge and how we demonstrated this throughout.

We look forward to displaying our new "leaf" on the achievement wall in reception!

    Mon 09 Jul 2018 Mrs Cox-Wall

Y10 accompanied Mrs Morriss to Coney Beach, Porthcawl for their annual beach clean, in conjunction with the Blue Flag awarding body. The pupils collected lots of waste and litter, mainly single use plastic sadly and also took advantage of this fabulous weather to paddle and cook some outdoor snacks. They also had time for some beach yoga, the seaside is very relaxing - this fits with our right of the month, article 31 "the right to realx and play".

They made sure to leave nothing behind but footprints!

What a busy month at The Bridge! We completed the Walk for Life, a 5k walk, raising £50 for Cancer Research. We celebrated the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We had a real version of the wedding cake as well as pizza, sausage rolls and many more delicious snacks.

Year 10 pupils visited Hope Rescue for dogs. Holding a bake sale, they raised £40 as a donation and also bought some dog treats for our furry friends to munch on. It was a great trip.

Our School Police Liaison Officer PC Beaumont visited KS3 to encourage us to be safe on the roads and show us the dangers of using a mobile phone while driving.

KS2 now have an adventure pay area, which was installed over half term.

We are proud to announce we have acheived Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award also. Well done all the pupils and staff for their hard work.

We wish all the pupils participating in their GCSEs the very best and we hope they acheive their goals!

Finally, we congratulate Mrs Joyner on being awarded the position of Deputy Teacher in Charge at The Bridge.
