  • Wild in Art Snowdogs Tails in Wales visit

    Mon 30 Oct 2017 Mrs Cox-Wall

Friday saw most of KS3 and 4 go to Cardiff Bay to follow the Snowdogs Tails in Wales public art trail, in aid of Ty Hafan children's charity.

Each term, particularly as some pupils only stay a short time, we have an event or activity which celebrates an aspect of Welsh culture or everyday life in Wales.

We were able to walk safely around the Bay, in the most lovely sunshine, including across the Barrage and check off the Snowdogs on the app! Each one was colourful, unique and quite adorable. We also found Snowpups, including one from a local school, Cynffig Comprehensive.

Lunch was at the fabulous Urdd building, we were hosted, fed and watered in style and had a final last check off of the Snowdogs hiding in the Red Dragon Centre.

It was a great day after a very long half term, the staff (who were the keenest Snowdog hunters!) and the children enjoyed the chance to relax and have fun, appreciating the public art together in the heart of our stunning capital city.

  • Noah's Ark Fundraising!

    Wed 18 Oct 2017 Mrs Cox-Wall

We were pleased to welcome Kath from Noah's Ark Charity to our assembly today to receive a cheque for £170, raised at our summer "Strawberry Tea". The money, from parents, friends, pupils and staff goes to buy much needed equipment for poorly children from all over Wales who may be admitted to the Children's Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Kath shared some of the costs of equipment with us and every penny is desperately needed!

    Well done all and thanks!

  • On line Safety

    Sat 14 Oct 2017 Mrs Cox-Wall

    On line safety

We are always working on the important issue of on line safety. This includes internet use in school and all pupils are asked to sign an acceptable user agreement when they start at the Bridge. This framework is part of our policy that ensures internet use is monitored and any breaches of acceptable use notified to senior staff.

Many pupils also have smartphones and these should not be seen or used during learning time. If a pupil chooses to use their phone at break or lunch time, this useage must be responsible and also not breach any aspects of the Acceptable User Agreement.

Please see the Parent section of the website for a list of links to useful sites with advice on all aspects of E-safety.

This is a link to a useful document for parents to check the ratings of games and apps that your child or young person may be using.

  • Article of the month for October

    Thu 05 Oct 2017 Mrs Cox-Wall

Right of the month for October is Article 12, to have your voice heard and your views taken seriously! We celebrated this in assembly this week and made sure everyone knows how they can ensure their views are heard:

    • School Council
    • The confidential "worry box"
    • Staff to talk to in confidence
    • Pupil questionnaires and surveys each term
    • We also enjoyed a snippet of our Leavers Ceremony (on the website in the Gallery section) where Y10 and 11 sang for our guests, you can also make your voice heard through song, music, poetry and drama!
