The Bridge Alternative Provision PRU: Commitment & Vision Statement

Careers and Work-Related Experiences (CWRE) is a statutory part of the Curriculum for Wales (CfW) and has an important role in the education of all learners at The Bridge Alternative Provision.  This policy links to the UNCRC, in particular:

Article 12 – Respect for the views of the child In CWRE, learners are encouraged to explore their interests and aspirations, and their voices are central in shaping their career paths.

Article 28 – Right to education CWRE supports this by ensuring that education includes preparation for life and work, not just academic achievement.

Article 29 – Goals of education CWRE aligns with this by helping learners understand their strengths and how they can contribute to society through work.

Article 17 – Access to information CWRE provides access to career information, labour market insights, and opportunities for work-related learning.

Article 27 – Adequate standard of living By preparing learners for employment, CWRE contributes to their future economic well-being.

Article 23 – Children with disabilities CWRE must be inclusive, ensuring all learners, regardless of ability, can access meaningful career education.

We know that good, effective careers education motivates and inspires children and young people. We also know that it can excite them about subjects, increase motivation and confidence, and improve their attainment and progression in education. It is therefore crucial that collectively we do all we can to ensure no child, and no young person is left behind, and that we support learners to establish high expectations and aspirations for themselves.
