Sony Environmental Centre

KS3 BESD pupils have had an exciting opportunity this term to experience outdoor learning with staff at the Sony Education Centre, Pencoed.

The Environmental Centre’s main aim is to support schools in delivering ‘Learning outside the Classroom’, through providing pupils with a really good balance of active learning and practical experience of the natural environment and building on previous knowledge" Ian Prescott, Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, Sony UK TEC

The Sony UK Technology Environmental Centre is a fantastic facility designed to provide an excellent resource for the benefit of the wider community.  The environmental centre opened in 2003 and was constructed from indigenous timber from renewable sources by a team of people from the Day Services Centre for adults with learning difficulties. Used by local schools for environmental field trips, this fantastic facility encompasses a environmental lodge and nature trail for exploration.

The Centre accommodates on average 25 Primary Schools a year and over 10,000 children since 2003. Accompanied by teachers and assistants from the school each child is given a Science at Sony Environmental workbook to complete.
